Arrangements Completed by Lewiston
LEWISTON, Idaho, Nov. 29—Lewiston has completed arrangements to purchase the Tacoma franchise in the Western International League, it was announced here tonight.
James B. McMonigle of the Lewiston franchise negotiating committee, selected by the fans here, said $11,500 will be paid to Bill Starr in San Diego for the right to play in the W.I.L. starting next season.
The purchase price also gives Lewiston the contracts of seven players on the 1951 Tacoma roster, the contracts of four players on the Tacoma reserve list; and the rights to six players on option from San Diego.
Player equipment belonging to Tacoma also will be transferred to Lewiston.
Fans have pledged approximately $25,000 toward an announced $50,000 goal to return professional baseball to Lewiston after a lapse of 12 years.
