Will Cheso Move to PCL?

Capilano’s Reno Cheso Gets Oakland Trial
By CLANCY LORANGER [Vancouver Province, March 19]
Reno Cheso should be in top shape when—and if—he reports to Vancouver Capilanos’ training camp at Penticton April 1.
The chunky Italian, who became Vancouver property in the deal that set pitcher Pete Hernandez to Seattle, has asked Bob Brown for permission to work out with a Coast League club and the Cap general manager has okayed a trial for him with Oakland.
Cheso has been working as a catcher with Mel Ott’s crew—a position Seattle wanted him to learn last year.
If Cheso fails to stick with Oakland—and the odds are against him—Brown says he plans to give him more work as a backstop next year.
With Cheso as No. 2 catcher with Ritchey, it could create a spot in the infield for Len Tran, the one-time Cap, currently as Seattle’s Palm Springs camp.
