Changes for Wenatchee

Chiefs’ Boss, Three Players, Get Releases
WENATCHEE, Sept. 6, 1951—Manager Rupert (Tommy) Thompson and three of his ball players asked for, and drew, their releases from Wenatchee Chiefs of the Western International League Thursday.
The Chiefs’ front office said Thompson, who piloted the club to fourth place finishes in both 1950 and 1951, got his release by “mutual agreement.”
Outfielder Will Hafey, infielder-catcher Lyle Lake and righthanded pitcher Walt Raimondi also asked for and were granted their walking papers. Hafey led the WIL in home runs this season with 24.
Thompson said before leaving for his Bowman, Calif., home that he will start looking immediately for a new baseball job. He managed Salt Lake City in the Pioneer League three seasons before coming here last year.
