VICTORIA, Oct. 26, 1951—The head of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues has ruled in favor of Kewpie Dick Barrett in his salary dispute with the Victoria Athletics of the Western International League.
Barrett was released by the club June 30 and the A’s refused to pay their former manager any further salary, claiming incompetence. Barrett took the case to George Trautman, who has ruled Barrett is entitled to the balance of his salary, approximately $3,000.
The Victoria club intends to appeal to the executive council the Association, and then to baseball commissioner Ford Frick, if necessary.
