Wins Double Bill Twice In Three Years
FRESNO, Calif, May 19 — No more iron men?
Ray Malgradi last night pitched and won a doubleheader the second time in three years.
The 30-year-old right hander pitched Santa Barbara to 4-0 and 9-3 victories over Fresno in the Class B California league. He cave five hits in the 7-inning opener, allowed nine and fanned eight in the 9-inning nightcap.
It was for Fresno, his victims last night, that he won a double-header from Stockton in 1949.
Malgradi, an Oakland, Calif., ice man, began his pro baseball career with Salem, Ore., in the Western International league six years ago. He's also hurled for Modesto, also of the California league, and for Willows of the disbanded Far West league.
The Dodgers put together four singles, a triple by Al Abro, a balk and a sacrifice for all four
runs in the third frame of the opener.
Two singles, a walk, a hit batsman and a double by Herb Olson in the second clinched Santa Barbara's windup win.
