SPOKANE, June 8—Spokane and Lewiston split a Western International League baseball doubleheader Sunday, Spokane taking the opener 7-2 and Lewiston the nightcap 10-4.
Centre fielder Eddie Murphy and manager Don Osborn teamed up to lead the Indians to victory in the first game.
Murphy, with two home runs, a double and a single in five trips, batted in four runs to lead both teams offensively.

YAKIMA, June 8—The Yakima Bears and the Wenatchee Chiefs split a Western International League baseball doubleheader Sunday, the Chiefs winning the first game 5-4 in 11 innings and the Bears winning the seven-inning nightcap 7-1.
Dave Dahle, who got credit for the elongated opener, limited the Bears to seven hits and accounted for Wenatchee’s scoring in the top of the 11th.
Ross McCormack started the Chiefs half of the 11th with a walk. He was forced at second by Bob Garrett. Garrett took third on Norm Ridgeway’s double and crossed the plate on Dahle’s squeeze sacrifice.

SALEM, June 8—Tri-City took both ends of a Western International League doubleheader here Sunday night when it defeated Salem 6-2 and 9-4. Tri-City won the series 3-1.
In the opening game Tri-City exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to win.
Ralph Romero, Tri-City righthander, extended his scoreless hurling against Salem to 266 innings before yielding a brace of runs in the sixth frame.
Former University of Oregon athlete John Kovenz was the hero in the nightcap, as he belted a grand-slam homer.
A crowd of 1,940 turned out for Country Store Night, at which basketfuls of groceries were given away by local merchants.
